ABB was created in 1988 through the merger of ASEA (Sweden, 1883) and BBC (Switzerland, 1891) and today employs over 105,000 people. The corporation is a global leader in industrial robots – over 500,000 ABB robots are in operation. This is complemented by ACS frequency inverters, AC500 PLCs, and comprehensive electrification solutions. ABB Robotics sets standards with collaborative robots (YuMi, GoFa) and the RobotStudio software tool. In 2017, B&R was integrated into the ABB family.
